British Isles In July of 2006, Harry and Laura took a cruise of the British Isles. It is confusing to hear the terms, United Kingdom, Great Britain or the British Isles. We discovered the United Kingdom refers to England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland whereas Great Britain is made up of only England, Scotland and Wales. We also learned the United Kingdom uses the British Pound as their currency and Southern Ireland uses the Euro. Within the United Kingdom, 50,093,800 people live in England, 1,710,300 live in Northern Ireland, 5,078,800 live in Scotland and 2,952,500 live in Wales making a total population of the United Kingdom of 59,864,400. The population of Southern Ireland is 4,234,925. We flew from Knoxville through Atlanta and on to London, England. We spent one night in London touring the major spots in London and then bused over to Southhampton, England were we boarded the Golden Princess for an 11 day cruise of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. The following pages will give a photographic journal of our experience. Pictures and text will be added as time permits. In retirement, you only have so much time to devote to these things.
